Comfrey

Overview:

Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) has been used on the skin to treat wounds and reduce the inflammation from sprains and broken bones. Comfrey roots and leaves contain allantoin, a substance that helps new skin cells grow, along with other substances that reduce inflammation and keep skin healthy. Comfrey ointments were often applied to the skin to heal bruises as well as pulled muscles and ligaments, fractures, sprains, strains, and osteoarthritis.

"the herb is very useful in healing fractured or broken bones. It is possible that at some point of time the herb was used to heal the swelling and tenderness in the region of a fractured bone."

After infusing organic olive oil with comfrey leaves - I began using it all over, on all my joints that hurt... the first three days I noticed no change or benefit.  Then on the fourth day I was able to get up out of bed without my cane and I noticed my feet did not ache as much as usual.  I also noticed my shoulders and elbows not hurting so much.  I kept slathering the infused olive oil every night and morning - it is very messy - when I put it on my feet I put socks on afterwards to keep from ruining my sheets...

At this same time I was also taking herbs - Curcumin BP, Boswellia and my prescriptions - so I wasn't sure if the lessening of pain in my joints was from that or the added comfrey oil... so I stopped using the oil for two days - on the first day of not using it I noticed more stiffness and swelling, and on the second day I was back the was I was prior to using it - lots of pain - so I concluded that it had to be the comfrey oil.
